Health and Safety

As with other years, in 2008 our ongoing objective is to improve our performance in terms of safety. This result is the sum of actions, investments, and training; and also the implementation of our follow-up, monitoring, and certification systems.

Our policy on health and safety is a priority incorporated into the daily tasks of our employees and our communities.

 

In 2008, SCC invested US $27.9 million in Occupational Health, Hygiene, and Safety.

 

We are constantly working to improve our policies on preventive safety for all personnel.

 

Our policy on health and safety includes the following points:

• Provide a healthy and safe work environment, complying with local mining health and safety laws and regulations.
  
• Consideration of the aspects of mining health and safety when making decisions and deciding on business practices.
  
• Motivate employees to proactively participate in cultural change towards prevention.
  
• Continuously improve the effectiveness of the risk management and implement modern prevention methods and technologies.
